Mino Raiola Banned for Three Months!

Mino Raiola has been at the heart of some of the biggest transfers of the last few years: Paul Pogba’s then world-record return to Man United, Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s fleeting trip to Manchester before he moved stateside to Los Angeles, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s move to Arsenal after the Alexis Sanchez transfer saga.

Raiola has found himself in a bit of hot water with the Italian Football Federation who implemented a three-month ban on the Italian-born Dutch Football Agent – that doesn’t sound like much of an issue, until you find out the FIFA stepped in and made the ban global. The ban will run until 9th August 2019 – the day after the English transfer window closes.

He manages £500million worth of talent and a few of his deals that are lined up for the summer could be on the brink of collapse, the aforementioned Pogba is heavily linked with a move out of Manchester: the biggest example of this after a season of frustration for the World Cup winning Frenchman.

You may be familiar with some of his other clients who are being linked with moves elsewhere:

  • Matthijs de Ligt (Ajax)
  • Marco Verratti (PSG)
  • Kostas Manolas (Roma)

If the ban sticks, any mooted transfers could be scuppered.

It has been reported that the ban stems from Raiola’s involvement in the transfer of Gianluca Scamacca from Roma to PSV Eindhoven in 2015.

His brother, Vincenzo, has also been given a two-month ban.

The only way Pogba can achieve the move he’s reportedly after is if Raiola’s ban is lifted, or Pogba moves to another agent.
