General Bookkeeping Responsibilities & Salary

As a Bookkeeper you’ll be responsible for a few different areas of the business, including but not limited to:

  •    Recording transactions (income and outgoings)
  •    Processing payments
  •    Conducting daily banking activities
  •    Producing various financial reports
  •    Reconciling reports to third-party records such as bank statements.

Salaries range by industry, sector and role, however, industry averages of a Senior Bookkeeper are between £16,000 and £32,000 a year, with a UK average of £27,000 a year.

  •    The bookkeeping environment and different business organisations.
  •    Key bookkeeping terminology.
  •    The principles of coding and batch coding.
  •    Single entry bookkeeping.
  •    How to fill in financial documents.
  •    The books of prime entry, and how to record transactions in them.
  •    Define cash or credit transactions.
  •    Business bank accounts and bank statements.
  •    The petty cash book and keeping records in it.
  •    The Imprest system for petty cash.
  •    The structure of spreadsheets.
  •    Practise different spreadsheet activities, including entering data, inserting a column or row, and changing column widths or height.
  •    Basic spreadsheet formulae bookkeepers work with.
  •    How to format and print selected spreadsheet data.
  •    Creating a chart from spreadsheet data.
  •    Backing up a spreadsheet.
