Course duration

  • AAT Level 2: Most learners complete Level 2 in around 6 to 9 months, depending on how much time they can dedicate each week. You’ll have 15 months of full access to the course materials, giving you the flexibility to study at your own pace.
  • AAT Level 3: Level 3 typically takes 9 to 12 months to complete. As with Level 2, you’ll receive 15 months of access to all your learning resources, so you can manage your studies around work or personal commitments.
  • AAT Level 4: This final stage usually takes learners around 12 to 15 months to complete. You’ll get 18 months’ access to your course materials, allowing you the time and space to work through the more advanced content in a way that suits your schedule.

Exam Format

Throughout the AAT Levels 2, 3 & 4 self-study journey, you’ll complete a series of computer-based exams designed to assess the knowledge and practical skills you’ve developed at each stage of the course.

You can choose to sit your exams either remotely (online with invigilation) or at a local AAT-approved assessment centre, giving you the flexibility to fit exams around your schedule.

  • Level 2: Three objective tests and one synoptic assessment
  • Level 3: Four objective tests
  • Level 4: Three objective tests from mandatory units and two objective tests from optional units

After sitting each exam, your score is converted into a percentage and weighted based on the unit’s value within your overall qualification. This calculation determines your final grade for each level.

Eligibility - Who is this course for?

There are no formal entry requirements for Level 2. You’ll progress naturally through Levels 3 and 4 within the same course.

To get started, you should:

  • Be 16 or older

  • Have a good command of English and basic maths

  • Be comfortable using a laptop or desktop computer

  • Be self-motivated to study independently
