Course Details & Syllabus

The BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis is completed by completing four modules and passing the examinations. Then you must sit an oral examination at a BCS Examination Location. On successful completion you will be awarded with the BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis. 

The two core modules are: 

  •    The BCS Practitioner Certificate in Business Analysis Practice - Which is a holistic view of the organisation by using strategic analysis tools and techniques to investigate and improve the business, and
  •    The BCS Practitioner Certificate in Requirements Engineering – Which allows you to fully understand the requirements engineering process of eliciting, analysing, validating, documenting, and managing the requirements through to delivery of the solution  

You will need a Knowledge-based specialism of either:  

  •    The BCS Foundation Certificate in Business Analysis – Which is an overview of the principles, techniques, and tools of the business analyst through the business analysis process framework, or
  •    The BCS Foundation Certificate in Organisational Behaviour - Which is the fundamental principles of Organisational Behaviour, as well as an insight into the complex factors shaping the way that organisations operate today

Finally, you will need the Practitioner-based module of: 

  •    The BCS Practitioner Certificate in Modelling Business Processes - Which takes you through the different levels and aspects of modelling the processes of the business, through to the framework to improve the business processes

There is also an Oral Examination Preparation Workshop day, which can help prepare you for the oral examination to receive the BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis.

Exam Details 

Up to 50 minutes oral examination with two examiners that will provide the delegate with a range of questions. Questions will be based on topics defined in the oral examination syllabus and from your chosen specialist modules. The questions will require you to apply your business analysis knowledge and understanding to scenarios described by the oral examiners.  

The oral examination for the International Diploma in Business Analysis is booked by the prospective delegate through BCS directly and fees are paid for the examination directly to the BCS. These fees are not covered by nor included in this workshop.  

The Business Analysis (BA) oral examinations are the final element of the programme leading to the BCS International Diploma Certification.   

The examination may be taken by you when you have passed four written examinations:   

  •    One examination for each of the two core certificate modules;  
  •    One examination for a module selected from the set of knowledge-based specialist certificate modules;  
  •    One examination for a module selected from the set of practitioner specialist certificate modules. Please note you will not be able to book an examination unless you have passed all the required modules 

It is recommended that you sit the oral examination within twelve months of completing the pre-requisite modules.
