NEBOSH Examination details 2020

Examination registration and entry confirmation

You'll need to register with e-Careers before you can take your examination. Once registered, we'll send you an Examination Entry Confirmation, which includes your unique learner number, essential examination information, and results process. Please make sure you check that all your details are spelt correctly.

Your Examination Entry Confirmation is essential for you to gain entry to the examination room, and photographic identification will need to be shown to the exam invigilator, so please make sure you bring either your driving licences or passport with you, as proof.

Examination results

Results for assessments taken in English should be received within 50 working days from your examination or assignment submission date. The specific date will appear on your examination entry confirmation.


  •    Unit IG1:
    • Assessment Type: Question paper
    • Assessment Time: 2 hours
  •    Unit IG2:
    • Assessment Type: Practical assessment
    • Assessment Time: 3 hours

Pass standards

  •    Unit IG1: 45 marks
  •    Unit IG2: The minimum standard required for a Unit IG2 ‘Pass’ can be found on page 8 of the IG2 Guidance for Learning Partners and Learners

A ‘Pass’ must be achieved in both units to achieve the International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.

Qualification grades

The qualification grade is based on the result from Unit IG1

  •    Distinction: 75 marks or higher
  •    Credit: 65 - 74 marks
  •    Pass: 45 - 64 marks

How to get your card

To receive your TOTUM PRO card all you need to do is enrol and pay for an eligible course (see the full list, below) and we’ll send you an email confirmation, acknowledging your eligibility for the TOTUM PRO Card. After your 14-day cooling-off period has passed, we’ll send you an email confirming that your TOTUM PRO card access is now live, and you’ll be able to use the TOTUM PRO card widget in your ‘My Account’ section on our website, to order your card.

Is there a cost?

The TOTUM PRO promotion has been extended. You can now buy a two-year membership card and you will receive an extra year for free. This means that you can buy a TOTUM PRO 3-year membership for just £24.99 (which is a saving of £10). This promotion will run until the end of March 2021.

Alternatively, you can purchase membership for one year for just £14.99 (usually £19.99), or for two years which is £24.99 (usually £34.99).
