What is the Practitioner Certificate in Modelling Business Processes

The Practitioner Certificate in Modelling Business Processes will help you understand and apply the knowledge of practical business analysis techniques that will help you investigate and improve your business processes, or look at ways to create new ones based on business needs to support new solutions in the organisation. 

In this course you will learn the different levels and types of modelling that the Business Analyst uses, from organisational to more detailed and specific models.  

This course fulfils the practitioner based requirement and is one of the four modules you will need to complete in order to obtain the International Diploma in Business Analysis, along with the core modules of the Practitioner Certificate in Business Analysis Practice and Practitioner Certificate in Requirement Engineering. Then finally either the Foundation Certificate in Business Analysis or the Foundation Certificate in Commercial Awareness.

You will immerse yourself into the world of process modelling over 2 days in order to understand how to investigate, model, analyse, and create or improve business processes in an organisation. 

You will learn the context behind process modelling to give you an understanding of how it can be used effectively, and review the different levels of process modelling, from the organisational view to the other more detailed views.    

Learning Outcomes 

  •    Understand the role of business process modelling in describing how an organisation carries out its internal processes; the hierarchy of process models and techniques to describe them; and why this is a key skill of the business analyst in supporting change
  •    Be able to model core business processes at an organisational level
  •    Understand how to model business processes at the process level, showing all the elements involved from triggering events to process endpoints
  •    Learn how to document and analyse tasks
  •    Use gap analysis to improve business processes
