As previously mentioned, CACHE were established in 1945 by the Ministry of Health as the National Nursery Examination Board (NNEB). The first national examination took place two years later in 1947. The awarding body became known as CACHE in 1994, when the NNEB merged with the Council for Early Years Awards. In 2001, the CACHE Awarding Body incorporated the National Association for Maternal and Child Welfare and in 2015 the organisation became part of NCFA.
